How to disable default AI on your apps and services.
Increasingly, service providers are rolling out AI-enabled features with little attention to the user’s needs, wants, or expectations. Many of these apps and services come packaged with disclaimers about accuracy and reliability (read some below.) In cases where we as users want to disable default AI on our apps and services, here’s a quick guide.

Google Gemini (AI Overview Disclaimer):
“These results are generated by AI. As this is an experimental feature, info quality may vary.” (From Google’s sidebar: “the quality of the information may be inconsistent”)
Google Gemini Apps/Generative AI Official Terms:
“The Services include experimental technology and may sometimes provide inaccurate or offensive content that doesn’t represent Google’s views.”
Meta Facebook/Instagram (AI Content Label July 2024):
“Made with AI” label is now “AI info,” which you can click for more information. (From Meta, July 2024: “we’re updating the ‘Made with AI’ label to ‘AI info’ … so people can see how AI could’ve been used to create the image or video.”)
Microsoft Copilot (Responsible AI and Accuracy Notice):
“Copilot aims to respond with reliable sources, but AI can make mistakes and third-party content on the internet may not always be accurate or reliable. Copilot may misrepresent the information it finds, and you may see responses that sound convincing but are incomplete, inaccurate or inappropriate. Use your judgment and double check facts before making decisions or taking action based on Copilot’s responses. Reviewing Copilot’s citations is a good place to start checking for accuracy.”
“Copilot responses aren’t 100% factual. While we continue to improve responses … you should still use your judgment and review the output before you send it to others. … Review and edit responses as needed and … manually check facts, data, and text for accuracy before you use the AI-generated content.”
Apple Intelligence (AI Writing Tool On-Screen Notice):
“Writing Tools is not designed to handle this type of content.”
The system also warns users that “the quality of the content rewritten by AI may be different from the original.”
OpenAI (ChatGPT, for context):
“ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info.”
